Scottish Rescue Dog Star Selected For Best Of The Best At Edinburgh International Film Festival
4th July 2009
Follow the Master, a feature film starring a dog rehomed from Dogs Trust West Calder, has been selected for the Best of the Best at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009.
Created by Edinburgh-based film maker Matt Hulse, the quirky film sees Hulse, his girlfriend and Tippy the 9 year old German Shepherd cross following the 100-mile South Downs Way in homage to the film maker’s grandfather who died last year.
The film’s first screening on 20th June sold out within 24 hours of tickets going on sale, and tickets are available at www.edfilmfest.org.uk
Film maker Matt Hulse reveals:
“I was recently approached by Tilda Swinton and the renowned film critic Mark Cousins to screen Follow the Master as part of their event called Pilgrimage: A Scottish Road Movie Film Festival. A 37-tonne, 80-seat mobile cinema will travel across the Highlands from 1st – 9th August, showing a variety of iconic road movies from all over the world. It’s wonderful that my film will be featured.”
Susan Tonner, Dogs Trust West Calder rehoming centre manager, adds:
“In the last 15 years we’ve had all sorts of dogs pass through the doors of our centre, but I think Tippy is the first to make it on to the big screen!”
