Hounds For Heroes Had A Right Old Jollye's Time!
28th April 2010
As part of Jollyes Pet Superstore 3rd Birthday celebrations, Hounds for Heroes was invited to their High Wycombe branch to promote the newly formed charity.
Squadron Leader Wayne Palmer (Chairman) and Wing Commander Paul Owens both accompanied by their chocolate Labradors (Berkeley and Oban) gathered up the collecting buckets and leaflets to help publicise Hounds for Heroes to the shopper at Jollyes.
The store opened at 10am and they were immediately inundated with people who wanted to know what the charity was about and how it operated.
Wayne said
"We had a lot of interested people and the amazing thing was how positive, and generous, everyone was. We are here to train assistance dogs for the disabled of the Armed Forces and Emergency Service. If the rest of the country is this enthusiastic about Hounds for Heres we are on to a winner."
Tom Waller (manager) and Neville Conliffe (assistant manager) had arranged a tombola, proceeds to Hounds for Heroes and a proportion of till receipts were also donated.
A magnificent £720 was raised, which will go towards the "puppies on parade appeal" that aims to raise £100,000 for the purchase of 5 puppies and their upkeep for 5 years.
