Roo invites pals to Port Eliot tea party
Following the success of his first ever Port Eliot Dog Festival in September last year Roo, the resident St Germans whippet, has decided to play host again.
Having enjoyed the day so much however, the impatient Roo can’t wait a whole year so he is inviting his friends to come back and join him for his second Dog Festival on Saturday 15th May.
Dogs from far and wide flocked to Port Eliot last year to soak up the sights with a stroll around the grounds, strut their stuff in the dog show, or tuck into the delicious treats put on by Roo at his Whippet Tea Party.
Roo is hoping his four legged friends, and their families, will return for another fun day together this May.

“I’m very keyed up about hosting my second Port Eliot Dog Festival as we had so much fun the first time round!
New for this year, there will be a ‘Dog Portrait Booth’ and more to be revealed!
I hope to see scores of dogs enjoying the Port Eliot park and gardens and everything that’s going on at the event.”
Once again Roo will be providing for his non-furry friends too with musical entertainment, children’s activities, stalls, refreshments, and more.
The Port Eliot House will be open to visitors from 2pm to 5pm, and the day’s fun will be followed by an evening event further details to be revealed soon.
Roo is also hosting his Dog Festival in aid of a human cause, Children’s Hospice South West’s Precious Lives Appeal, to help build a children’s hospice for families with life limited children from Plymouth and Cornwall.
Entrance to the fun event is just £1, with all proceeds going to the Precious Lives Appeal. Judy Pride, Children’s Hospice South West Community Fundraiser, says
“By kind permission of his owners, Lord and Lady St Germans, Roo will again be opening the gates of Port Eliot for his very own Dog Festival in support of our appeal to build our new children’s hospice Little Harbour.
“It was an absolutely wonderful day last year and we hope Roo’s doggy friends, old and new, will bring their owners along for a fantastic day out at the event in May whilst helping our cause.”
Children’s Hospice South West is the only organisation in the region providing respite care to life limited children and their families in a hospice environment. Through its special hospices Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset, and eventually Little Harbour in Cornwall CHSW provides care and support for the whole family so they can make the most of the precious time they have together.
Join Roo, have fun and help a good cause, at the Port Eliot Dog Festival 2010, at Port Eliot in St Germans from 11am – 5pm on Saturday 15th May.
Parking is free and entrance to the event is just £1 per person. Entry to the Dog Show is £1 per class.
All in aid of the Precious Lives Appeal.
Entry to the House is £7 per adult and free for children under the age of sixteen accompanied by an adult.

· Building work started on CHSW’s third hospice, Little Harbour in Porthpean, Cornwall, in April 2010. It is hoped it will open its doors to the first families by the end of 2011
